About

Born in Horona, Kalutara District in Sri Lanka. Student of Janadhipati Vidyalaya Horana and Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo. Started dance at the age of eight and learned Kandyan and Low country-dance under Mr. Hettiarachchi and Mr. Premadasa Gamage and Mr.Priyasara Shilpadhipathi. Entered Visva-Bharati University in 1989 as an I.C.C.R. scholarship holder. Her Guru’s are ; Kathakali and Bharatanatyam – Prof. Kalamandalam T. Shankar Narayan, Guru Kalamandalam T.S. Vasuni Manipuri Dance – Prof. K. Jitendra Singh, Guru Devjani Chaliha, Manipuri Pung – Sri. Kh. Premjit Singh, Odissi Dance – Guru. Poushali Mukherjee.
